New fan art for The Batman gives an up-close, detailed look at Robert Pattinson's Batsuit. The Batman is still more than one year away from release, yet it is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated superhero movies of the next few years. Originally created to star the DCEU's Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne (with Affleck also directing), The Batman now looks to be a standalone effort with a new Caped Crusader. There was some surprise when Pattinson, best known for playing Edward Cullen in the Twilight films, was cast as Batman. Since then, however, many fans have been won over by the idea and look forward to seeing what he brings to the role.
According to director Matt Reeves, The Batman will offer a new take on the iconic character, one that digs into his detective side. He'll also be surrounded by some familiar characters, such as Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), Alfred (Andy Serkis), and Jim Gordon (Jeffrey Wright). Specific plot details are still being kept under wraps, but fans have already been granted looks at the Batsuit and the Batmobile, both of which stirred up fan excitement upon release.
Pattinson's Batsuit in particular has received a lot of attention. Fans have enjoyed picking up on all the details they can find, as well as speculating on their own about what parts of it could look like. This latest piece of fan art from William Gray does both of those things, as Gray explained his design was "inspired by set photos and a few production photos." It offers a closer look at the suit, as well as some of the gadgets it might entail. You can see it for yourself in the space below.
The wait for The Batman unfortunately got a little longer recently, as Warner Bros. moved it from June 2021 to October 2021. This is because production on The Batman is currently shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic. New reports yesterday revealed The Batman has been given permission to begin work again soon, but it's unclear when (and if) it actually will. Still, the news likely comes as a relief to fans who are eager for production to resume, as well as the actors themselves. Kravitz recently said she continuously hopes filming will start up again, so hopefully she and the others won't have to wait much longer.
